As From A Dream - James Hanway

As From A Dream - By James Hanway

10.11.2020

The pain didn't seem like it would end

The fear lingered in her eyes

Timing which was made to bend

Torture beneath blue skies.

Rain from heaven turned to ice

No passage on the rise

Trapped behind the great stone wall

Together they survived.

It was early on an afternoon

When they suddenly awoke

To find the angel standing there

Their wishes came bespoke.

In her hands the angel held

The smallest of their dreams

A shining star her voice replied

While her smile simply gleamed.

Then through the light the angel left

Her parting gift; he stayed

Their smallest little warrior

Heaven sent and passage paid.

Once in a dream they saw the boy

Convinced he would be theirs

To love and hold and to behold

A gift to lift despair.
